    The nerve for vision, transmit visual stimuli in the form of action potential

  • Vestibulocochlear Nerve (sensory)

    Cochlear Nerve (sensory)


    Vestibular Nerve concerned with balance and equilibrium

    Cochlear Nerve responsible for the sense of hearing

  • Oculomotor Nerve (motor)


    Responsible for moving of the eyeball, opening of the eye, constricting the pupil, changing lens shape

  • Trochlear Nerve (motor)

    Abducens Nerve (motor)


    Aid in eye movement

  • Accessory Nerve (motor)


    Head, neck movement; production of sound

  • Hypoglossal Nerve (motor)


    just control tongue movement

  • Trigeminal (mixed)


    Ophthalmic nerve and Maxillary nerve have sensory input only (no motor function)

    Mandibular nerve has sensory and motor function

    chewing

  • Facial Nerve (mixed)


    Sensory= information about taste from the tongue anterior

    Motor= move muscles of the face to express emotions; trigger salivary glands, tear glands, nasal mucus

  • Glossopharyngeal Nerve (mixed)


    Sensory= posterior information about taste; throat changes in blood pressure

    Motor= generate saliva, pharynx muscle control

  • Vagusnerve (mixed)


    Sensory= taste sensation pharynx mucus membrane; CO2 concentration

    Motor= sound; innervate muscle around pharynx and larynx
