Course Content Standards

The following topics are covered in accordance with the College Algebra curriculum:

• Use an appropriate calculator to evaluate numeric expressions and graph functions.

• Simplify algebraic expressions using the order of operations.

• Perform addition and subtraction of real numbers on a number line.

• Write the equation of a line in various forms.

• Solve linear equations and inequalities.

• Solve quadratic equations using factoring and the Zero Product Principle.

• Graph linear and quadratic functions.

• Identify and evaluate functions, including domain and range.

• Understand and apply function notation.

• Combine functions and determine the domain of the result.

• Find the inverse of a function and verify inverses.

• Solve equations involving all types of functions covered in the course.

• Understand rational exponents, convert between exponent and radical form, and simplify expressions involving rational exponents.

• Simplify rational expressions.

• Simplify complex fractions.
