Begin with the renal artery, which is the main blood vessel that supplies blood to the kidneys.
The blood then flows into the interlobar arteries, which are branches of the renal artery that run between the renal pyramids.
Next, the blood moves into the arcuate arteries, which arch over the base of the renal pyramids.
From the arcuate arteries, blood flows into the interlobular arteries, which extend into the renal cortex.
The blood then enters the afferent arterioles, which lead to the glomerulus, a network of capillaries where filtration occurs. After filtration, blood exits through the efferent arterioles and flows into the peritubular capillaries, which surround the renal tubules.
