Hey everyone in this problem we are given the following number in percentage notation and were asked to rewrite in its fraction equivalent and reduced to the lowest terms possible and were given 8.75%. Now when we're given a percentage and we want to write this as a fraction. Let's recall that percentage K means per 100. So if we have 8.75% we can write this as 8.75 per 100 or divided by 100. All right now we have a decimal and a fraction. That's something we typically don't want to do. Okay, so the easiest way to remove this decimal. OK? We see we need to go to the right 12. Okay, so we're just gonna multiply the top and bottom by 100. Okay, that's going to get rid of that decimal and just allow us to work with a fraction without a decimal. Alright, what we're gonna do is we're going to multiply the top By 100 and multiply the bottom by 100. This keeps our fraction consistent because we're multiplying by the same thing in the numerator and denominator and this is going to give us divided by 10,000. But now we have this fraction but we want to reduce to the lowest terms possible and if we look at this we're trying to find the A common divisor for these. One thing we noticed after that is that we can use 25. Okay, we know that 10,000 will divide by 25. And this 875, you know, it ends in a 75. That's going to divide by 25 as well. So let's start there and then there may be more. Okay, so we get 875 divided by 25, Divided by 10,000. Provided by 25. Okay. And again, same thing when we multiplied by 100 we're dividing by the same thing in the numerator and denominator. So our fraction is going to stay consistent. It's going to be an equivalent fraction. 875 divided by 25 is gonna give us And 10,000 divided by 25 is going to give us 400. All right, and we'll see here. Well, both of these divide by five. Okay, so when we did our divide by 25, that wasn't the highest common divisor. We had we could have found another one, but that's the one that we saw right off the bat and I encourage you to do this. Okay, if you're not finding the biggest possible thing and you can divide each of them by do what you can okay If you notice that they both divide by five, start there and work your way down. Okay? So now we notice these divide by five, so we're gonna divide by five. Okay, so this is going to be equal to 35 divided by five, Divided by 400 Divided by five. And this is going to give us seven over 80. Okay. And here we can't divide anymore. Okay. Seven is prime, and 80 does not divide by seven. So that is the lowest terms possible now for our fraction.
