Welcome back. I am so glad you're here. We are given the percent. 1.25%. And were asked to change it to its fraction equivalent we recall from previous lessons that on changing a percent to a fraction we're going to take the number and get rid of the percent. So 1.25% means per 100. So what we're going to do to get rid of the percent is divide by 100. These two things are equivalent. So 1.25 divided by 100. Well when we have a decimal point in a fraction we want to get the decimal point out of the fraction. So we're going to scoot This decimal two to the right. But what we do to the numerator we have to do to the denominator as well. So the decimal that comes after 100 is getting scooted over to to the right as well. So now our numerator reads not 1.25 but 125. And our denominator is now 10,000. All right, so now we have this big number. 125 divided by 10,000. And we need to reduce that to its lowest terms possible. Well it just so happens that both of those numbers are divisible by 125. is obviously 125. is actually 125 times 80. So we can rewrite this as 125 in the numerator divided by 125 times a T in the denominator and look at that. Look at those two beautiful 125s. Whenever factor occurs in both the numerator and the denominator, they cancel out, they become ones. So now our numerator is one and our denominator is one times 80, which is 80 and there is our reduced fraction.
