Understand that mitosis is the process of cell division that results in two genetically identical daughter cells. It consists of several phases that occur in a specific sequence.

Begin with Prophase, where the chromatin condenses into visible chromosomes, and the mitotic spindle begins to form.

Next is Metaphase, where the chromosomes align at the metaphase plate, equidistant from the two spindle poles.

Following Metaphase is Anaphase, during which the sister chromatids are pulled apart toward opposite poles of the cell.
